New sketchbook = very exciting. I am back from Iowa where I had a lovely time as it is beautiful there and the air smells good and there are animals everywhere. (I saw deer, hummingbirds, turtles, frogs, fish, and a falcon.)I can officially say now that I am very excited to have been chosen as 1 of 134 awesome artist types to have received a 2009 NYFA Fellowship.
my friend claire taylor made a website for her lovely art.

congratulations on the fellowship! thats amazing!
thanks!
Every time you post a sketch, I can't help but wonder what kind of sketchbook you're using. Something custom made for you? Or perhaps you tea-stain all the pages by hand?? Whatever it is, it gives all your drawings a really elegant quality.
(And of course, congrats about the fellowship. I = jealous.)
hey carly thanks! I make the books. I paint the paper with my hands, rolled out as big as I can on the floor, before I cut it into pages and bind it into a book. I like the irregularity of surface this provides. Keeps the drawing interesting if you never know what you'll get on the next page.
